Wobbly

December 9, 2021

Wobbly. As you probably know from reading my Blogs, I like to walk. If it is not too freezing, or if the rain isn’t crazy, I will most likely walk four miles every day. Two in the morning and two later in the day. It doesn’t always happen, but I feel better when it does. Anyway, I have been a bit wobbly lately. It seems like my feet are sometimes misplaced, and I stumble more than I like. I even fell a week or so ago. No harm, no foul. I was able to jump up and continue on my way. Well, jumping up might have been a bit of a stretch. It was a bit harder than that for me. I do remember saying ow as my right arm hit the driveway I was walking across, but thankfully I was not hurt. My son convinced me to go and see someone in the medical field, to see what was going on with me. I had an appointment with my daughter-in-law’s nurse practitioner, and yesterday I went to physical therapy for the first time. The physical therapist noticed a problem and decided I needed more exercises than just walking, so I could strengthen my legs. To make a long story short, I will be getting a walker from Amazon, and I have appointments at physical therapy twice a week until at least the end of January. I am also getting an emergency alert button to wear. If I were to fall, I could get help. Okay. First of all, as I have said, I like being old. I would rather not break any bones or get hurt, so I am happy with anything anyone can do for me to keep me vertical. I am a smart person and I like to be happy. I want to increase my odds against difficulties occurring in my life. I also have an appointment with a neurologist on February 16, 2022. Again, I will do whatever I have to do to maintain my quality of life and to stay happy. I am so blessed to have options. I think of it this way… when I cross a road, I look both ways to make sure a car isn’t going to run me over. I do not close my eyes before I step off a curb. I try to protect myself. I don’t know, but maybe I will put a horn on my walker to warn people I am coming towards them. Beep beep…old person on the loose. The advice I have to give anyone, is to be careful and to be smart. Sometimes it is hard to fix something if you break it. Breaking myself might not be good for my future, and you could mess your future up too if you are not careful. You always need to be aware of your surroundings. No matter what your age, it would be a good idea not to be wobbly. Do what you have to do. Be well, and stay happy. I think it would be a good idea if you did. Bye for now.
